NWS Art Exhibition!

Throughout term 1 and 2, the room 4 artists have been very busy! We have learnt to use different techniques such as paper mâché, weaving and jewellery making. Our artworks are related to Matariki. Check out the process...

We were inspired by the book 'Tane and the Stars', so we decided to make an 'ipu' (vessel) for Tane to carry his stars in.
We chose our balloon and got to work...
Mela and Lola are concentrating very hard while putting on their first layer.
The glue feels gooey between our fingers!
Kawiti and Ellysa have done 7 layers of paper mâché! Now they're carefully painting the outside of their ipu.
Tane's ipus are almost complete. We just need to decorate them with special string designs.
Armahny, Angus and Aurora-Jane have created a koru pattern for their ipu. Ka pai!
Your finished products looks amazing room 4!
Lola and Elijah are working together to weave.
Siya is carefully threading the paper 'under and over'. Well done Siya!
Proud Bella! Tino pai, your mat looks beautiful!
For our final piece, room 4 made tiki pendants from modelling clay. Very colourful pendants!
Opening night!!
