Phonics are fun!

This is a fun clip to help you learn the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Have a go at home and remember to do the actions!

Welcome Room 4 Superstars!

Kia ora!  Talofa!  Hola!  Bonjour!  Dzien Dobry!  Guten Tag!  Ola!  Ni Hao!  Sawatdee!  Salaam!

I am Miss Coulter, I will be teaching your child this year. So far we have 13 children in room 4 but this is always changing when children have their 5th birthdays and arrive in our class!

Your lovely children have been learning a lot about the routines of school and kindly pass on their knowledge to new children when they arrive in our class.

Keep an eye on this page to find out what your child is learning and all the exciting experiences we have in room 4!
I will post notices about swimming or upcoming school trips throughout the year so stay tuned!...

NWS Art Exhibition!

Throughout term 1 and 2, the room 4 artists have been very busy! We have learnt to use different techniques such as paper mâché, weaving and jewellery making. Our artworks are related to Matariki. Check out the process...

We were inspired by the book 'Tane and the Stars', so we decided to make an 'ipu' (vessel) for Tane to carry his stars in.
We chose our balloon and got to work...
Mela and Lola are concentrating very hard while putting on their first layer.
The glue feels gooey between our fingers!
Kawiti and Ellysa have done 7 layers of paper mâché! Now they're carefully painting the outside of their ipu.
Tane's ipus are almost complete. We just need to decorate them with special string designs.
Armahny, Angus and Aurora-Jane have created a koru pattern for their ipu. Ka pai!
Your finished products looks amazing room 4!
Lola and Elijah are working together to weave.
Siya is carefully threading the paper 'under and over'. Well done Siya!
Proud Bella! Tino pai, your mat looks beautiful!
For our final piece, room 4 made tiki pendants from modelling clay. Very colourful pendants!
Opening night!!

Emergency Services Day!

This week we learnt that there are lots of different emergency services that protect us in our community. Let's see who came to visit...
We could see and hear a big helicopter coming towards New Windsor School!
It's just about to land...
It's a very noisy helicopter!
Touch down!
Then the fire fighters came to visit! Mrs Chester is wearing clothing to protect herself from a fire.
The firefighters let us sit inside the fire engine. We were so lucky!
Then the police dogs visited us!

We ❤️ books!

Every Friday afternoon we have library time! We learn how to use special browsing cards and find books to read for enjoyment. This is us relaxing in the library...
Conrad is using his browsing card to remember where he got his book from.
